We read the DJ setlist off the recording
Last updated
A DJ setlist is the records, in order. Bands call it a setlist; DJs call it a tracklist. Both are the same thing. A DJ plays other people's records blended together, so the crowd can't name them. setlist.id names them: our own recognition reads the recording, drawing on partners including ACRCloud and Shazam.
- You have a link to the set
- Paste the link. You see the title, length and price before you pay. A one-hour set usually takes a few minutes.
- You only know the DJ
- Start at the index of DJs. Each name opens a page of their identified sets, free to read, folded by event and genre. If they are not there yet, search YouTube, SoundCloud or Mixcloud for the DJ and the night, and paste the link you find.
Here is the whole Tomorrowland set, with BPM and key
BPM and key are from release data in Camelot notation. See how the DJ moved between tempos and keys. Copy the text or open the full page for artwork and buy/stream links.

Most “DJ setlists” online were typed by somebody
Search for a DJ setlist and you get playlists, documents and fan databases. They are useful, but somebody wrote each one, and most never say the minute a record came in.
| Source | What you get | Timestamps | Written by |
|---|---|---|---|
| setlist.id | The released records a DJ played, in order, with BPM and key | On each identified track | Read from the recording |
| A playlist called “DJ setlist” | Somebody's picks | None | Whoever made the playlist |
| setlist.fm | Bands' songs by tour date; DJ sets are thin | None | Fans, from memory |
| 1001Tracklists | Well-known DJs and big sets | When a contributor added them | Contributors, by ear |
| Comments under the upload | Whatever somebody asked about | In the question, rarely in the answer | Strangers, if they answer |
When you remember the set but not who played it, browse the identified sets themselves, newest first.
What people ask before they paste a set
Is a DJ setlist the same as a tracklist?
In practice, yes. Setlist is the word from bands and from setlist.fm; DJs and their listeners say tracklist. Both mean the records played, in order. The difference is what is in them: a band's setlist is mostly its own songs, a DJ's is other people's records, mixed into each other. Naming those takes audio fingerprinting.
Can I look up a DJ's setlists by name?
In the public catalogue, yes. The DJ index lists the DJs and channels with identified sets, and each name opens a page of their sets, free to read. If the DJ is not there yet, nobody has run one of their sets here: find a recording and paste the link.
Can I use a DJ's setlist to plan my own set?
That is what the BPM and key columns are for. They come from each identified record's release data, not a guess from the mixed audio, with the key in Camelot notation, so you can see how a DJ moved between tempos and keys and which records sat next to each other. setlist.id does not plan a set for you.
Does it find the unreleased tracks a DJ plays?
No, and no tool can. Commercially released tracks identify reliably, including through blends and pitch changes. Unreleased tracks, private edits and dubplates have no fingerprint in any database, so they come back as timestamped gaps. The gap tells you where to point an ID request, and what was mixed in and out of it.
Does it work for a b2b or a whole festival stage?
Yes. A b2b is one recording with two selectors, and the fingerprint does not care who was on the decks. A six-hour stage archive is read the same way a one-hour mix is, start to finish, and is priced by its length.
The stream is gone. Can you still get the setlist?
Only if a recording exists at a public link. setlist.id reads the audio from the link you paste, so a stream that was never archived cannot be read. Check whether the channel re-uploaded it, or whether somebody mirrored it to SoundCloud or Mixcloud.
How is this different from setlist.fm?
setlist.fm is written by fans from memory and built around bands: song titles, encores, tour dates. It has little for DJ sets, where the records are other people's and the crowd can't name them. setlist.id reads the audio: paste a link to the set and the released records come back with timestamps.
What does a DJ setlist cost?
Pasting a link and seeing the quote costs nothing. The full setlist is paid by the hour of audio: a bundle is 5 hours for $6, hours never expire, and any stretch we cannot identify is refunded. Reading the public catalogue is free.
Find out what they played
Paste the link to the set. The setlist comes back in a few minutes.
