Promo mixes, label showcases, podcast series, and continuous DJ sets go up on SoundCloud first, often long before any of the tracks reach mainstream streaming services. SoundCloud is also where tracklists are scarcest: uploaders rarely list what they played, and the timed comments on the waveform are mostly unanswered ID requests.

Public and unlisted links both work as long as the upload is streamable; an unlisted link's tracklist is never published. Shazam listens to a few seconds of audio and names one song, which fails on a SoundCloud DJ set where tracks are blended, layered, and EQ'd across the whole recording. setlist.id processes the complete audio instead, so every identifiable track is caught no matter where in the set it plays. Frequently asked questions
Do unlisted SoundCloud links work?
Yes. Any SoundCloud upload that is streamable at the link you paste can be processed, whether it is public or unlisted. Private uploads that require a login to hear cannot be fetched.
What about unreleased tracks, edits, and white labels?
Audio fingerprinting matches against released catalog, so unreleased dubs and private edits cannot be named by setlist.id or by any other recognition tool. What you do get is the exact timestamp range where the unidentified section plays, which tells you precisely where to aim your digging.
Does the DJ or uploader get notified?
No. setlist.id reads the public stream the same way a listener would. Nothing is posted to SoundCloud and no comment is left.
How accurate is the identification?
Commercially released tracks identify reliably, and our own algorithm is built to find deep underground tracks as well. No recognition tool can name unreleased music, so unreleased edits and dubs show up as timestamped gaps, and a set that fails to identify refunds automatically.
